Awareness
Helping departments recognize early signs and symptoms of distress in first responder employees.
Protecting The Guardian is a Florida 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization devoted to the health, wellness, and suicide prevention needs of first responders — built and run entirely by the people who’ve walked the watch themselves.
“It takes one to know one.” Protecting The Guardian further believes, “It takes one to know what one is going through.”
Protecting The Guardian (PTG) is a completely non-profit organization made up of voluntary team members who are currently sworn or retired across the first responder and public service fields — Law Enforcement, Fire/Rescue, EMS, Dispatch, Corrections, Military, and Nursing.
Our team also includes certified Chaplains and Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHC), bringing peer-informed care together with clinical experience and faith-based support.

To create, promote, and maintain health and mental wellness in first responders through impactful training events and education.
PTG works alongside agencies and department leaders to foster awareness, resilience, and early intervention measures to prevent first responder suicide.
Three commitments guide every training event, conversation, and partnership PTG takes on.
Helping departments recognize early signs and symptoms of distress in first responder employees.
Providing practical tools for stress management — on the job and at home — so responders can stay grounded in the work they love.
Encouraging proactive strategies and honest conversations before stress, trauma, or isolation become crisis points.
Our volunteer team brings firsthand experience from across the first responder community, paired with certified chaplaincy and licensed clinical care.
Each member of the PTG team volunteers their time, experience, and heart to support their fellow first responders.
